What do you do when you are face to face with God? For me, it was instant praise, hand in air, knees shaking, and then came a quiet hush of knowing I was in His presence. How did this all come about in modern times of today, you ask? Simply by honoring God by listening to his small quiet voice and following through with what he ask you to do. It all started with the huge threat of oil leaking into the gulf.

Let me begin by saying I had loved the beach all my life and always felt close to the Lord at the beach picking up shells and praising all the beauty that surrounded me. I was only recently blessed by moving to the gulf. The Lord knew it was my secret desire to live near the ocean to walk and talk with Him. When the potential disaster hit, I was like everyone else in disbelief that all God's beauty could be destroyed so quickly. I also questioned why God would bless me with my heart's desires to only lose it. I wanted to rush out and do something, but what? Then the Lord spoke to my heart and told me to drive to Pensacola Beach which was about an hour and half away. As I drove along the beach, I felt led to pray for God's protection over our gulf.

I was reminded of a verse where Jesus gives us power to pray over anything. In John 14:12 and 13 of the Living Bible, Jesus says, "Anyone believing in me shall do the same miracles I have done, and even greater ones, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask Him for ANYTHING using my name and I will do it, for this will bring praise to the Father because of what I, the Son, will do for you."

My anything at this moment was the oil spill. After obeying God and honoring him with following through with His Spirit request to pray, I was at the dead end of Pensacola Beach and turned around to head back home near Panama City Beach. As I came to the next bend in the road, I saw a beautiful rainbow on my left over the white sand dunes, so I pulled over to take a picture. When I got out of the car, suddenly the rainbow began stretching all the way over the road, me, and the beach into the ocean.

It happened so quickly and was so beautiful that my knees started to shake. I knew I was in the presence of God. A peace came over me like a loving father patting his daughter's hand. That was when I knew He was going to stop the oil somehow from flowing on down the gulf to Destin and Panama City Beach. All my fears became instant praises. I knew I was changed that day; I knew how Moses felt when he was in the presence of God. There is no room for doubt, only praise and awe for his goodness and glory.

I still have the pictures of the rainbow in my cell phone. I look back from time to time and am reminded that God doesn't just appear to those in days of old, but He cares enough to reveal Himself into our lives today. Even through something as simple as a rainbow, He chose to touch his daughter's hand. And yes, my prayers and thousands of other peoples' prayers were answered as God promised. He protected our shores from harm and as always TO GOD BE THE GLORY! AMEN
