When she met him, it was high school
She wandered…then went on
To a life that was sanctioned
By God---in whom she loved
But time has ways of changing
And God had other plans
They met again; she looked at him
Before her stood "her man"
He loved to sing,
And so did she; he'd look up as he sang
She'd sing in perfect harmony
As they looked up toward the sky
Then what was this she wondered
So quickly he was gone
She's singing all alone
And wondering what went wrong.
There's nothing left but memories,
And in those memories she can rest
And get to choose the memories
That she considers best
Now living with those memories
Slowly she grows old,
She wonders ..."Will he know it's me
When we meet on streets of gold?"
