One definition of remission Is abatement in intensity or degree My doctor says that's where I am And that's more than Okay with me! It took awhile to get here And I've traveled this road before But it was worth all the pain and anguish To have my health somewhat restored Though I'm keeping my eyes wide open And know that the cancer can return I don't waste my time with "what if?" I have places to go and things to learn My next scan is just around the corner But I'm neither sad nor withdrawn I pray that the spot on the last one Will be unmistakably gone Abatement, reprieve and respite Are definitions of my condition But I'm living for the here and now Thanking God I'm in remission Kathleen McCoy Eldridge © May 20, 2011 All Rights Reserved share
