The beautiful hills and valleys of Kentucky Have many churches scattered throughout Filled with people of various faiths Many God-fearing and devout Daddy's side of the family was Pentecostal While Mother's was of the Baptist faith We kids went to both of the churches And learned to worship in the different ways I still recall the preaching and singing Pianos resounding with old gospel songs All the prayer requests and the testimonies And repentances of those in the wrong Many lost souls gave their lives to the Lord During camp meetings, services and revivals I remember the comfort of God's embrace In an era when families struggled for survival I guess if I have to say so myself We children all turned out pretty well From the faith instilled in us, we know The difference between Heaven and hell I don't think it matters much where we worship The most important thing is to get into church If we trust in Jesus and follow his teachings We'll be in Heaven when we leave this Earth Kathleen McCoy Eldridge© September 17, 2007 All Rights Reserved
