Thanksgiving's gone;December's here
It's time to decorate
Christmas is three weeks away
So, there's no time to wait
Drag out the dusty boxes
Filled with Christmas decorations
Turn the house into a wonderland
For our yearly celebration
Bring in the tree with its piney smell
And stand it by the fireplace
String it with the sparkling lights
As the season we embrace
Lovely ornaments, both old and new
Are hung with tender care
Missing those who have gone beyond
Grateful for those still here
It's time to place the angel, now
In her place right on the top
The tree is finally finished
Tomorrow, we can shop
Keeping secrets, wrapping gifts
Hanging each Christmas stocking
Outside, the night is crisp and cold
To the malls we'll soon be flocking
The day has been so wonderful
We sit by the fire's glow
Sipping chocolate with marshmallows
List'ning to the cold wind blow
Perhaps, in all our merriment
We've overlooked the reason
That Jesus' birth has led us to
Celebrate this wonderful season
We bow our heads in earnest
And thank Him for every blessing
Remembering Him this Christmastime
Priorities reassessing
