Mama's kitchen wasn't fancy Just simple and homespun She would cook up many things And always make it fun. A kitchen filled with laughter Luscious smells would fill the air A cookie jar I could reach If I stood upon a chair. Chicken fried a golden color With gravy thick and brown Strawberry shortcake for dessert Now who could turn that down! Lessons learned at her knee Will always stay with me In her kitchen she taught best The important things you see. ©Charlotte Anselmo Used With Permission All Rights Reserved By Author Website Mail
